Of course the bible makes these claims, but it doesn't prove anything. In fact much of what is in it has been proven to be wrong or just incomprehensible.

If it's good enough for you, then fine, but it isn't good enough for most human beings, through no fault of our own.

Well I'm certainly not going to force you to believe the Bible. God, however, demands that you do not make Him out to be a lier.

"Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar." (Rom 3:4)

Thanks. It just that I don't find the bible reputable at all. It's just written by people who claim divine inspiration, that has been edited, revised, had things taken out and put in, and just about everything you could do wrong with it. Not to mention that the whole cornerstone of the christian faith is pretty faulty. There are older stories about people who were born of virgins and rose three days after they died, the authors that spoke of the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus got their facts mixed up, and some things were mentioned that demonstrably didn't happen or were not recorded by sources outside the bible.

As far as Yahweh goes, I can only judge him by his actions. Some judge him to be the ultimate good, and some don't. Some say he's incomprehensible and impossible to understand, but still say with certainty that he must be right and good and just, despite actions that would horrify most modern audiences.

It is telling that the worst flaw you can supposedly have is pride, and the worst sin you can commit is speaking against him. Individuality must be stripped in order to belong.

Seems childishly easy, doesn't it?

No

How are you convinced that a disembodied voice is God?

Me? I'm the guy who thinks all gods are bullshit.

Perhaps you should ask "Abraham?"

I'm actually pretty sure that virtually no atheist (or non-Christian theist) on this forum wants the shit you're selling. What makes you think you'll succeed when not one of your benighted brethren, some of them having tried for years, have so much as a single conversion to their credit?

You're just wasting everybody's time, including your own.

I am one moral relativist speaking to another.

Why is it that the guy who believes that whatever his god does is good no matter how horrifying it might seem, thinks that it's everyone else who is a moral relativist?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Well I meant me of course :p

So I cross check and validate... fine for the most important decisions... except where there is the unknown. God is communicating with me on someone's guilt or innocence. That's a compound leap too far IMO.

Ah.....

So you are a little weak on this whole "faith" thing.

God may be displeased with you!
