You are correct, but I don't think the developers would do such a thing, given the potential repercussions if it was found out... and it could by found out.. unlike what happens with close-source software.

I think Firefox is just easy, and as some great additions that even a novice can use like a pro.

I used to use chrome, and opera before that, and FF is neither better nor worse than any of them in the grand scheme of things. I almost always use Tor for general browsing aside from when I'm on my iPad or when I visit those site (just for ease of passwords).

But you're 100% spot on regarding data leakage. Nothing's guaranteed on the internet.
