But because it was not flaming and I am honestly sick of seeing the favoritism on this forum. Enforce the rules fairly for everyone please. If Drich was flaming Robvalue then every single person who responded about Drich is also guilty of flaming. This isn't a highschool popularity contest. Everyone should be subject to the same rules and as far as I know, being a dick isn't against forum rules.

I'd have rather been left out of the loop but now I've read through a lot of PMs and I just feel tired of unpopular people being held to completely ridiculous standards when it comes to rules. Not that my opinion matters but it's just childish.

You must've read something edited. Either way, I don't think any staff is remorseful of what we've done with Drich. And seriously? Ugh? Try dealing with his highness here. You'll ugh all day long.

And... edited to add: actually, we spend a lot of time making sure what we do is fair, and I'm extremely resentful you, of all people would think otherwise.

Wow, is it common practice to share the content of PMs? I thought the P stood for private.

I'm sorry, but you simply are not in possession of all of the facts in the case.

Nothing serious was going to happen with Drich until he decided to bomb the reporting system with a bunch of frivolous reports that we *still* have yet to finish processing. Whether the reports seem frivolous or not, we have a process to go through and it takes time.

This was done apparently in retaliation for speedbumping the thread, something that is done as standard practice when more than one people are letting the thread get out of control.

Drich turned what would have been a minor slap on the wrist into a big fat hairy deal by directly antagonizing the staff and creating extra unnecessary work for us, and I don't care who you are, if you do that, you're getting some time off.

It certainly isn't common practice for staff to do so.

Drich spammed the reporting system? That is childish. You'd think someone who has been a member here for a long time and is an adult would know better.

You're making a couple of unwarranted assumptions about drippy.

This was done apparently in retaliation for speedbumping the thread, something that is done as standard practice when more than one people are letting the thread get out of control.

I might also add that even the reason Drich fell afoul of the speedbump was his own fault; he got pissy because we apparently weren't taking into account the fact that he reads and responds to threads chronologically, and wasn't seeing the speedbumps despite the fact that the newest posts in any thread are always located directly below the text box for a new post, every time we make one.

So, the actual order of events was that we dealt with the situation and requested the thread get back on track, Drich responds in a poorly managed way, gets angry at us for not kowtowing to his evidently ineffective method and his refusal to modulate it even when it was clearly necessary- as if ignorance of the rules has ever been a justification for breaking them in the past Rolleyes - and then attacked the staff out of some petty need for revenge because we wouldn't cover for his own inadequate forum etiquette. I wasn't even involved in the decision, as I was off being with my wife at the time, so I have no stake to defend in this issue, but even I can't see what else we were supposed to do, at that point.

I also find this accusation of moderation by popularity offensive because the last high profile ban we handed down clearly shows how inaccurate a claim that is; do we really have to go back and see how many chances Frodo got, despite his growing unpopularity among the mod staff?

Losty, you know I think you're the bees knees, but you're flat out wrong on this issue.

Staff has seen every interaction I've had with Drich. I made sure of it. I post all of my PMs in-thread of the reported posts.

ETA: I'm fucking pissed. You guys rely on us. We are here for you. That's it. It pisses me off that an established member could possibly think otherwise of me, when I've never done anything outside that realm. You know what? I'm here for the community, and no one on staff has any problem with me, and in fact, I've only ever gotten praised for my objectivity... I'd even venture to guess that's why they made me staff.

ETA again: this is in response to Losty's post.
