Few straight people can pick most gays of either sex. At least that's my experience from having been around my gay sister and her friends for over 30 years. (I once got punched right in the face by a huge diesel dyke for innocently hitting on her girlfriend)

You know, the odd thing is that I actually have a classmate who's kind of like that. To start off with, she looks like what you'd expect if Ellen Page (of Juno fame) got impregnated by Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In case you think I'm just going off stereotypes, she admits that she regularly patronises strip clubs (the kind with female dancers), sometimes flirts with female coworkers, and has even recently begun to latch onto another coworker who's openly lesbian, but she still will not admit that she's anything but a Kinsey Zero. I have to admit that if somebody like her cannot admit that she's gay, I doubt that somebody like that will come out of the closet that easily.

I've known a few gays quite well, and can usually spot it pretty much straight away - It's just the pansy whiny guys who you're fucking sure are gay that turn out not to be that confuse me. Even the non feminine gays are easier to spot that a faggy straight man.

The stereotypical homosexual male bothers me or maybe it's just the one that goes to school with me. He's hair is terrible, I'd think someone like that would have a better hair style. Maybe he's not that stereotypical since his fashion sense isn't the best. He's just into fashion. Well, I suppose I don't have that much of a fashion sense either *looks down and notices she's still wearing her painting clothes and then that the pants are for almost any occasion.*

I only try to find out if someone is gay if I have a crush on him. I shouldn't be crushing a gay guy. I'll also look into it if I think a girl might have a crush on me.

I had once had a new member of staff seconded to my department.
First thing he did was shake me by the hand, told me his name and that he was gay.

Did not know what to do with that information.
I think I just stared at him blankly for a bit while shaking his hand.

what was I supposed to say 'congratulations'.

Probably wanted to spare you the 'surprise!' later on down the road when/if you found out on your own and were taken aback by it. He wanted to 'bare all', so to speak, so you would know him more fully while working along-side him.

It makes more sense than ya think.
