BACK UP.
OP, did you mean why be good as in: "why be docile and compliant"?; "why follow the 'eternal' do's and don'ts"; or did you mean "why give a shit about anything except your own comfort and pleasure"? Yesterday, an opportunity presented itself, and I took advantage of it. In the course of this thread, Julia or Jenny referred me to some articles (which I have printed out for review) and some other folks have asked about the definitions of words such as "good", "truth" and "objective morality", etc. I could plow ahead, or I could stop to do some reading based upon this feedback. I choose the latter. However, as I have continued to monitor this thread, it seems that there are divergent opinions among long-time atheist forum members on the question of "Why Be Good?". So you don't really need me involved at this point to maintain a great discussion, do you?
Wow. Your disingenuity knows no bounds.
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
Also, are you going to answer my question?

Also his last post seems to be indicating a copping out manoeuvre. On the other hand, maybe he's just compiling the list of countless famous atheists becoming deists or theists after having studied the bible I asked him for. But I won't hold my breath.
