What IS good, and how do we determine it?

Wow Randy, this what your argument has been reduced to? No wonder you wanted the mods to lock this thread, lol.

I defended his point simply to show he neither condones rape, nor thinks God condones rape. That seemed very clear to me, but people were still accusing him of it for some reason, so I figured I'd clarify. It's not my argument, it's not what I think happened, so I have no answer for your question. Ask Randy.

Yes, it's very convenient for you that you take the whole of the old testament as allegorical. Too much misogyny and absolutely disgusting morality for any of it to be literal. Too bad the new testament isn't really any better.

Still defending Randy I see.

Disgusting.

When you make something, say a fine painting do you allow other people to tell you what it is supposed to represent? Or do you name it and tell them what motivated you to create it?

This world is the creation of another, higher being. It does not matter what you think about it, these are the rules that have been laid out and can rest happily in the knowledge that the creator who is all good sees the full picture and formation we do not.

You do not get to question him, what he has decided goes. If you don't like it then well, tough.

How 'bout you either prove these unsupported assertions or shove 'em straight up your ass?

Evidence or shut the fuck up!

Even if it's taken allegorical, I fail to see how it can be taken as any kind of moral compass. At least in a civilized society. Rape, genocide, infanticide, slavery, natural disaster provided by yours truly... The list goes on and what's to like about that?

Suffice to say that the Alex character in A Clockwork Orange liked the bible very much. Anthony Burgess obviously knew what would appeal to his protagonist.
