Meaning 1.1 quoted above for the word "desert" is "uninhabited." They came upon an uninhabited island. That is not opposed to being a tropic island. An uninhabited tropic island is not a contradiction.

Wow. A discussion about Gilligan's Island has genuine educational value. My worldview is sustained.

I read a book by Sherwood Schwartz (creator of Gilligan's Island) where he claimed that David Carradine (Kung Fu) walked into Alan Hale's (Skipper) restaurant in the 1970s or 80s in an inebriated state and created a fracas. Supposedly, Hale emerged, grabbed Carradine out of the air and unceremoniously dumped into the street like a sack of potatos. It fits with actor Bob Denver's (Gilligan) description of Hale as having unbelievable strength, able to grasp him out of the air and hold him as if he were a child.

There were a lot of natives on that uninhabited island.
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:
"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

There's another one I liked—Kung Fu. I will always remember that one line, "I don't try to have all the answers. I just make sure I understand the question."

The actor I eternally pay homage to is Stanley Adams. He played Cyrano Jones, the guy who introduced tribbles into the Star Trek universe. He also played Cybo, a walking, talking carrot in the infamous Lost In Space episode, The Great Vegetable Rebellion. The fact that that episode is infamous for that series is noteworthy indeed. Finally, Adams played King Kalawani - the volcano god in the penultimate episode of Gilligan's Island.
Ooh, ooh, niniphoo. Ooh, ooh hah hah hoo.
How can you not love this guy?

Your memory is not that good. The "natives" who appeared were visiting from neighboring islands.
(I sincerely wish I did not know the answer to this, but I watched the damn show as a child and remember it well enough.)
