Guys, has it occurred to you that CL asks "us" these questions, and not her Catholic friends. Because we have a more accurate grasp on the reality of any situation, because we see the world without any preconceived notions.

If you think she asks these questions for this reason then you are seriously deluded IMHO. I think even CL herself would tell you she doesn't ask these questions for the reason you ponder. It would mean she'd be admitting atheists in general have a more accurate grasp of reality than Catholics.

If that's the case it begs more questions than it answers.

Why come here if you can get all your answers at home?
Because there's something not quite right with the home grown answers.

Lol, asking someone if they think incest should be legal is a different question from asking them if they engage in it. 

And asking someone to explain why they think bestiality is wrong, is a different question from asking if they're into it. 

It's not a matter of semantics at all. They are different questions, Thena. Also, I'm not sure how my post came across as me being in shock and outrage. I wasn't those things at all, and wasn't "pretending" to be, either.

I see that you're good at playing games, CL. Others on this forum  see it, as well....even more so after this gem of a thread. By all means, keep running your game and having faith that people won't have the good sense to know when they're being insulted....and watch the bottom drop out someday, sure as shit.

That said, I liken this type of thread as to me going on a Catholic forum and stating ‘’atheists think that priests molesting kids is wrong, do you guys think that too and why?’’

@CL: You said you're not secular. This would mean you're against the separation of church and state. Is that the case? I suspect you may be mixing up atheism with secularism.

Oh, if secular simply means separation of Church and state, then I did not mean that.

I thought so A secular government is one that has laws that don't favour or persecute any particular religion, or lack of religion. You could have a country with nothing but religious theists, of all different kinds, but still have a secular country. Without a doubt it's the way forward for civilisation in my opinion.

Those Christians who want the law to favour them would change their mind pretty quickly were they to become the minority and suddenly under Muslim rule. Secular governments protect everybody.

There's a weird switcheroo going on with USA versus England at the moment. England is technically a theocracy (I only found this out recently) meaning the Queen has power over church and state. In reality, we are secular, and religion barely ever enters politics, as it should be. The U.S. is explicitly secular, yet has loads of religion going on in its politics. I'm confident it's going to change though, I think people are slowly realising religion has no place in how the country is run.
