how homophobic is it where you are

RE: how homophobic is it where you are
I'm in Austin, TX, (it's this little blue island within an ocean of red, just like any urban area there is less homophobia, especially in view of the purchasing power of the "gay dollars." Although I've talked with a few gay men who've stated they've lived in more tolerant cities, which as a former San Franciscan, I "get."

The world is a dangerous place to live - not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don't do anything about it.

If you're eccentric and/or don't enjoy rugby they automatically confirm you as gay, an interesting mindset they've developed.

Brighton, England.

No homophobia. Extremely gay friendly and next to no religion. A nice coincidence? hmmm.

He isnt kidding, I went there a few weeks ago and found myself unconsiously playing 'spot the lesbian couple' in my head as I walked around.

Spot the 'male gay couple' would've been just too easy and the count would've been enourmous!

I live in what is supposedly one of the most conservative, religious parts of my state (Victoria), however there is not very much homophobia.

I live on Long Island, NY. The older generation is very homophobic. The teens here are not though, and a lot of us are atheists too.

In NZ it's fairly non-discriminatory, not "friendly" because of our Kiwi "Tough Bloke" mentality, but it's balanced out by our "who gives a fuck" attitude Smile So in that regard people might be like "Eww homo" but when asked if we should stop them getting married and having kids it's largely "not my business, let them do what they like".

We've got "Civil Unions" here, identical to marriage in all but title, I've never asked a gay person if that pisses them off that they're labelled differently, I'd assume it would if I was in their position. Gay adoption here is on par with the norm.
