Most of the time, maybe.
Holy fucking Necro! Was "Most of the time, maybe" really the killer point you were bringing in like 6 months later?

It's an interesting idea. There is certainly a disconnect between the quality of life, and the happiness of people experiencing that quality of life. And I think maybe the disconnect is based on the promotion of ideas that suit society rather than the individual.
You look at people who just enjoy themselves, and they are often called losers, or wasting their lives, or whatever. The idea being that spending your life doing something big, like building a company is somehow good, and spending it playing video games is bad. But if you really like getting high and playing video games, you're not wasting your life at all. I think a reasonable argument could be made that becoming a doctor, doing a ton of charity work, and raising a family could be wasting your life if you would rather have been smoking pot and playing video games all along.

Haha, no. There was just a thread about college and the school system and it made me think of this, but I was too lazy to be redundant and just make it again so necro! I honestly think everyone should watch that video though.

Don't get me wrong, I like Alan Watts, but this video doesn't really say much.

Hmmm. . . proof that atheists have no soul, I guess.
It's a beautiful commentary on life, and on the importance of enjoying the process instead of always chasing the carrot on the stick. How is that not saying anything?

Well, I'm sorry. It doesn't say anything spectacular or anything I didn't already think about on my own.

All these things are usually reminders to remember what really matters, not revelations.
We all know how to live. We just don't always remember to do it.

Sorry, still useless, in my opinion.

Typical Watts: 'If you don't live your life the way I think you should, then you're living it wrong.'
Who the fuck is Alan Watts to say that success is an illusory concept? How the does HE know that the bloke selling insurance doesn't feel different at 40 than he did at 20? Someone should have told Watts that the journey is not the same for everyone. For some people, the goal IS the dance.
Arrogant, self-righteous semi-mystical twat. Fuck Alan Watts and anyone who looks like Alan Watts.
