Multitasking
Now I'm male...but my life would suck without 'multitasking'. Hard to go back for me.

I'd just like to say that; I love chatting listening to music and listening to/watching vids at the same time.

I am currently on these forums, HoC, secular chat, listening to Orbital and listening to a Ross Noble stand up on youtube (and looking at it every now and then) - all at the 'same time'.

It started years ago when I started listening to Orbital while I played games online.

I've never gone back since. And its moved on since then...

Problem is it makes 'real life' really slow Tongue Big Grin

I mean I could do something physically IRL that was really fast (if I was capable of it anyway), but not multitasking like this....using so many programs at once and having many windows open....

Sometimes I have MSN as well and I'm moving on....

Been doing this for years...I'm a boy yes---but without multitasking life is WAY too slow lol.

So at least since the internet--I think the whole 'boys can't multitask thing' is more of a stereotype that it as before even.

After all I can't imagine using ONE program on a PC ?!?!? Wtf???

I also look back at the TV sometimes too. It rox.

RE: Multitasking
I think multitasking depends on the tasks ... for example, you can ride a bike, navigate and check the time all at once ...

Plus ... *Looks around for any women*

How hard is it to cook and clean at the same time? lol ... Only joking!

RE: Multitasking
Just multitask different things.

Men generally can multitask between things they WANT to multitask with I think.....

But they don't tend to do it with cooking and cleaning so it makes it look like they "can't" lol cos they often don't want to.

You get some men who will do that though of course...some

There are some men who just focus on the one thing more of course....I used to be like that. But with having music on, and playing games...

And with all the music and vids and foruming aswell...in the information age of today - the computer age - NOT multitask is WAY more difficult for me. Bloody frustrating I NEED to multitask.

But not both cooking AND cleaning at the same time lol.

I don't want to and I don't have the 'will power' as of yet atm (aka, can't be arsed I guess....but it IS dificult lol).

But with things I wanna multitask I can.

So I think its not so much men CAN't multitask - I think they of course can (well I'm a man I can) - it's just often they don't wanna multitask with the things their wives (or gfs) want them to, etc , lol.

So women say men 'can't multitask'.

More like they often don't want to mulittask with housework etc specifically I think....although some are fine with that of courseWink

I do think women are often better at it. But men can multitask. Its not like the ladies have magic powers......

Or do they? *twilight zone music*

While we're discussing retarded stereotypes; I've heard black people love taffy and Peruvians love to swoop in and save the day.

P.S. Lay off the return key.

K lol...

I can't punctuate :S. I am still in the process of experimenting to get the balance right....balance isn't my strong suit!!! Its almost like all or nothing for me :S

Anyway I was saying that I think the stereotyping is wrong....that however something is on average it is an exaggeration to suggest something or someone or some group of people are 'all' a certain way, etc.

i.e: Men can obviously multitask too.

RE: Multitasking
Of course men can multi-task. The internet just makes it more fun. Usually I have at least 5 tabs open, msn, and itunes, all constantly switching between them. That's not to say that the only place I multi-task is on the internet.

I seriously reckon the women made it a stereotype to try and get us to do more housework  You know... the whole challenge of proving that we actually 'can' multi-task would make us do the dishes while cooking and vacuuming. Sucks to be them - didn't really work how they wanted. Now we just sit on the internet for long hours proving our 'multi-tasking intelligence'.

Men could always multi-task.

I think it's time for a a woman or a feminist (is there such a thing as a male feminist?) to come out with a scientific study done on male and female brains and how women actually can multi-task more successfully than a man Smile

RE: Multitasking
hahahhaha lol. Great post.

And yes I believe there is a such thing as a male feminist.

I think I know the 'types' (stereotyping again a bit lol) but I dunno how to describe it...its very vague in my head...

Are you serious? It must be the guy who was always bossed around by his mum and girlfriend.

I'm not including gender confused male feminists. They can just be called female feminists.
