Transexuals

Right wing Christians just like being bigoted fucks to minority groups
One of the GPs at my surgery was trans. It is a bit weird having a man in a dress do the Dr bit, but that was down to me rather than him/her. I'm an old man now and this is all rather new to me. But I never had a bad experience with a trans, just made me seem a bit uncomfortable because I'm unused to it.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

Tell you what, growing up I never particularly liked them. I always was as prejudiced as my generation ultimately was, but I never in my wildest dreams thought to deny them any rights other people had. Even now I don't understand them or gays for that matter. Doesn't change the fact though that me not understanding is reason for discrimination.

I have to add, I grew up in the post '68 environment, but in a mildly conservative one, where people laughed and pointed at people they didn't understand, but never thought on actively denying them anything.

The Little-Known Movers Behind North Carolina's Anti-Gay Law: Ted Cruz's Advisers

Quote:For years, Harris and the Benhams have been at the forefront of every battle to oppose gay rights in North Carolina. This past February, they were at it again, this time against a nondiscrimination ordinance proposed in Charlotte that, among other things, allowed transgender people to use public restrooms based on their gender identity and protected LGBT people from discrimination by public institutions.

Quote:Harris' and the Benhams' state activism is significant because, if Cruz wins the presidential race, the considerable influence of these three religious activists could extend far beyond North Carolina. In February, Cruz appointed them to his campaign's advisory council for religious liberty, along with 16 other conservative Christian leaders. The GOP candidate has promised that this group will "guide his policies to protect religious liberty"—policies that could look very much like the anti-LGBT bill in North Carolina.

However in truth I have raised several issues that none of you want to address. The chief of which is who is responsible when someone using these laws to fish or troll in the wrong bathroom decides to step things up and someone gets hurt because of it?

Or why do we have laws on the books that makes people vulnerable to predators at all? especially if this law only benefits less than 1% of the population?

Again I don't care if a woman who is now physically a man uses the mens room, what I will not abid is being made to stand outside the woman's room waiting for my 8 year old, while an obvious man in a dress walks in behind her!

P/C bullshit aside if anyone of you were in a situation like that and you did not know this man in a dress from adam you can't tell me your initial reaction would be the same if it were a grandmother who followed your daughter in the lady's room.

If and when this happens Lord help me I will be on the news because I will not let that go down.

Bullshit. My replies SPECIFICALLY addressed the question you posed in the OP about "mentally compromised people" setting policy. Others have specifically discussed points about the definitions you sited and discussed the brain physiology, whether the law makes people vulnerable, and plenty of other relevant info related to your OP.

Of course, plenty of your wording and implications merit conversation about bigotry and hate, but you cannot say that nobody has addressed your points.

He's pretty selective about his sources. As I already said, the OP stems from conversion therapists. I would never do something like that. Just today I watched Secular Talk because Kyle amuses me, but the story he was reporting on was blown out of proportion and outright wrong in places. I would never place something from liberal news outlets as fact, unless I checked them for verity first. Mabe because I'm used to do it professionally or because rightwingers have less of an inhibition to post anything meeting their preconceived notion.

I'm not agreeing with anything CL posted here, but Drippy's version of god is much more horrible than what the Catholic Church endorses. Evangelicals are the closest to the Taliban we have in the West.

I'm only amazed at him believing that his views could have any appeal. I mean, other than running for the next toilet.

Easy there, tiger.

She doesn't "back" the church, she's a member of the church. You need not respect her beliefs (no one need respect anyone's belief, contrary to popular assertion), but you should respect her.

That was way, way, way over the line. C_L is a respected member of this community.

And you are?
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
