If the person who pointed out that no true Scotsman would do a certain thing then explained why that is by pointing out that the counterexample someone gave to him was a false one, since that particular Scotsman wasn't really a Scotsman by nationality, but an Italian, how would that be fallacious? It's the same with feminism, if you can reasonably argue why someone doesn't fit the description of a feminist you're in the clear.
I find that people tend to fear ridicule so much they avoid certain common pitfalls when there's no need to do so.
I'm not saying it would be fallacious; I'm saying that the person I was responding to wouldn't get the nuance of it.

It only works if you're excluding certain members of a group with no reason.

Well, EP, sometimes what seems to you isn't actually so. This might be a good lesson for you.

Why is this thread in the sciences?
"Adulthood is like looking both ways before you cross the road, and then getting hit by an airplane" - sarcasm_only
"Ironically like the nativist far-Right, which despises multiculturalism, but benefits from its ideas of difference to scapegoat the other and to promote its own white identity politics; these postmodernists, leftists, feminists and liberals also use multiculturalism, to side with the oppressor, by demanding respect and tolerance for oppression characterised as 'difference', no matter how intolerable." - Maryam Namazie

I was being polite, Empress, you weren't sure.

I wasn't making any assumptions, this is what you said. So instead of blaming me for taking you at your word, maybe be a little more specific about you're really thinking next time.
