Man I would not like coming into a den of well wishers such as this on my worst day.  I think he'd be happier with wise cracks than with prayers and fawning.  Leastwise I would.  Fuck you Stimbo you ol' lug.

That's why I'm telling him to switch to marijuana.
Look, the thing is, people will always give you the "oooh I wish you were okay" ! IDK, especially on forums you don't get to read gestures to know who is authentic and who isn't,

Personally. Humans treated me so shittely and mostly like an interest cove (i.e take the interest they want then dump the shit out of me); "hope you get good" or "glad you're okay" didn't do much, really, when then person is obviosuly faking it, but what about a handful of budds??

Personally, I'd rather see a person who is genuinely struggling get some sort of counselling to help them through the underlying issue than turning to some kind of drug (be it alcohol or drugs, legal or illegal) in order to push those feelings aside and not deal with them.

I'm also troubled by the implication that the people here who are offering well wishes are not genuine because they are not advocating swapping one drug for another.  There are a lot of genuinely concerned people on these forums who do care about Stimbo's well being.

There's a time and place for using substances, but using them as a means of deadening emotional pain, IMO, is not one of them.

This is very much my own view, based on my own experiences in recovery and, prior to that, using alcohol as emotional anaesthesia.

Having said that, I'm not comfortable advising anything more than taking an honest self-assessment, and for me that means not assuming I know why he got drunk in this or any other instance.

FWIW, I think Whatevs was taking the piss, not really slagging folks for expressing love and support.
