RE: To circumcise or not to circumcise?
June 10, 2016 at 2:30 pm
My husband and I only have girls, but we faced this question 18 years ago because the OB wanted to know in advance. The OB either lied or didn't know what she was talking about. She said that there was no loss of sensation. But she also agreed that there was no real health benefit. We thought about the social aspect and found circumcision had dropped to about 60 % and determined that being uncircumcised would hardly be a stigma and opted out. Unnecessary surgery should always be a no by default.
My guess is women prefer what they first have a positive experience with. I have a daughter who prefers as nature intended because that's what she sees. I prefer circumcised because it's all I've seen. I'm sure most american girls born in 2016 are going to prefer uncircumcised.

I think the only adequate justification is a medical reason specific to that particular baby.

Here's a hypothetical question for yall:
If you were were having a baby boy tomorrow, would you opt for him to be circumcised?
Why or why not?
Thanks! Nope, if he wants to do it later when he's older, sure go ahead. Not my decision to make for him.

Speaking of possibilities our OB'S didn’t discuss. . .

I was my wife's first uncircumsized penis. She married me and we have a great sex life. For all I know, she may prefer the look of circumsized penises (thought she agrees with me on the issue for any future children), but guess what, the look of the penis doesn't really matter at all when it comes to having good sex, and being in a good relationship.

I guess it could if it really freaks you out. A lot of times, during sex, it's hard to tell the difference by looking.

Absolutely correct. As they say "it isn't the length of the wand, its the art of the magician!"

If someone gets freaked out by a circumsized penis I'd wager they have some serious issues that they probably need to address. If that's honestly an issue in a relationship, my advice would be to find someone who isn't so obsessed with the look of your genitals.
I just had another thought, how disgusted would we be if someone came here and asked us whether they should get a labiaplasty for their newborn daughter, because they didn't like the look of her vagina. This is pretty much the same thing with the male gender. It's weird.

The "it looks better that way" response was meant to be more funny than completely serious lol. I'm bored and in a goofy mood if that wasn't evident by how I wrote the OP.
Yes, I do think it looks better circumcised. I'm sure I'm biased bc that's how my husband looks. I've seen my brothers uncircumcised when they were babies, and I've googled pictures of it uncircumcised out of curiosity. I definitely prefer the former, but I agree it's a personal preference type thing.
Mainly I just want my son (if the baby is a son) to feel comfortable and confident in how it looks... as older kids/teens already tend to be insecure about their changing bodies and their privates to begin with. I don't want to give them a possible reason to be more insecure, and this isn't necessarily with sex, but with using urinals and changing rooms, etc.
...Though it's a moot point because even if I was against it, Brian already said he'd want it done for his son, and being a guy himself I see that as being more his territory to speak than mine lol.
I'm sure some Catholics believe circumcision is a sin. (I'm sure they do because I've seen them talking about it on Catholic forums.) But officially, it's in the same category as piercings/tattoos or any type of cosmetic procedure. The Church doesn't officially speak for or against those things, but stays silent on the issues as to allow us to use our own judgement and well formed conscience.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I agree. And I'm disgusted by all forms of genital surgery performed non-consensually
