Feds Seize KickassTorrent

RE: Feds Seize KickassTorrent
The notion that shutting down (even temporarily) one piracy-enabling site is pointless is rather like suggesting that no one should be sentenced for murder, since there are always more murderers about.

But we've been through this before on these boards.

I resent that federal law enforcement resources are being wasted on insignificant bullshit like this when we are supposed to be fighting a "war on terror."

Let the movie industry sue in civil court if they like.

Comparing it to murder. Classy.

It's not like suggesting that at all, since murder is quite serious, this is not. One is about endangering all human life the other is about millionaires making less money. Cry me a river.

If I could afford all the shit I pirate, I wouldn't be pirating it. The way I see it, nobody's the worse for it. And a lot of other people are just like me. I do afford some stuff, and the stuff I really like I buy, so there you go.

That's why private trackers are better. There you can really claim you're sharing it with friends instead of with strangers on the internet. Even if it's 1 millions friends, like in mine. We're a community over there, we help each other out in everything and all that. No one gets in without an invite and the site lays the responsibility of the content on the uploaders, so that's good as well. Not to mention no ads, it's all private donations in a system where you can indirectly buy perks through them, as well as achieve them without paying for them.

But another thing about torrents is, some people use them as a way to determine whether they should buy something or not, like a trial. If they don't like it, they don't buy it, but if they do, they pay good money for it afterwards.

I have a membership to a private one only because i was lucky it was the only day they allowed registrations i haven't used it any a long while.

Also piracy does a lot to help the industry rather than harm it because software that people like they will just eventually buy it rather than keeping it for free.
There is no real loss monetary wise it's just a drop of water in a ocean.

My torrent client allows for streaming so i just load the torrent file stream it rather than downloading it.
