RE: Feds Seize KickassTorrent
Of course, lately, most sites have been emphasizing using a VPN. It helps.

Not like they're going to prosecute the majority of the world anyway.

Gotta love how a thread about a takedown of a file-sharing website turned into a discussion of the opposite.

Anyway, https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/us-author...fringement

Quote:According to the complaint, KAT has consistently made available for download movies that were still in theaters and displayed advertising throughout its site.  KAT’s net worth has been estimated at more than $54 million, with estimated annual advertising revenue in the range of $12.5 million to $22.3 million, according to the complaint.
I wonder if that's true. Sounds pretty insane to me.

I am just wondering how a site that offers viewings of movies and shows for free makes money. Just saying.

Well, by hosting ads, naturally. I just wonder if they did make that much. That kind of makes the waters muddier in a way.

Nope. The government loves to lie.

I don't know, they had a lot of users. But could companies that would willingly associate themselves with their website by having their ads on it pay that much?

I doubt that amount is accurate. As Kitan said, the government loves to lie.

Not likely, and the fact that you are focusing on the aspect of money speaks volumes.
