RE: Read any good books lately? Rate them here
I can't say I've been all that big a fan of non-fiction, so most of my reading list has come from the fiction side of things.  I've recently gone back to some of the old classics; I'm currently reading through Brave New World.  After that, I'm undecided whether I want to re-read 1984 or Fahrenheit 451.

Jesus Interrupted

another book from Bart Ehrman.  Rooting around in the early Christian era is interesting and informative.  The profound evolution of Christ's religion into Christianity is an eye popping tale.

Taking, as Ehrman writes, Jesus never intended to abrogate the Law, since he was the Jewish Messiah sent from the Jewish God to the Jewish people in fulfillment of the Jewish Law, and since he himself wholeheartedly embraced the Jewish Law, his followers needed to be Jewish, and need to keep the Law, we have a fatal flaw for the subsequent Christian religion since it denies Jesus teachings fundamentally and subverts and replaces his clear intent and purpose.

The 'Christians' got it ALL WRONG.  The  subsequent revisionism and wholesale re-writing and reconstituting and repackaging of the religion of Jesus into a religion about Jesus   invalidates the entire entirety of their faith.

The religion of Jesus is not practiced anywhere in the world today, and hasn't been since He Himself was lording over the disciples, His True Faith* was supplanted by a religion about  himself, and it clearly is a FALSE religion since it is not His religion.

*as He would have recognized it as His own

I've not yet read "Jesus Interrupted," but "How Jesus Became God" was a fantastic description of the many deification processes.

I'm reading Harrison Salisbury's The 900 Days on the siege of Leningrad.  Read it about 25 years ago and it is still horrifying.

Finished my refresher, and the new book of the October Daye series. The tenth book held up to the standards of the others. Great fun.

Now in the middle of reading (audio book) "Cyber Storm" by Matthew Mather. He's a very hard science guy who usually writes hard sci-fi. This one is almost a political thriller with the electronic infrastructure of the US being compromised by cyber attack. Good read so far.

Still making my way through the Foreigner series by C.J. Cherryh in print (well, e-book). I kinda miss the 1-1/2 to 2 hours I had on public transit when I was working downtown. I was really burning through the e-books then.

Twenty-six Seconds

Alexandra Zapruder writes as the granddaughter of Abraham Z. and of the history of 'The Film' through 3 generations of her families perspective. I'm a JFK assassination buff, and this is a VERY interesting book. No big shockers from a conspiracy standpoint (thankfully) and much detail on all kinds of angles and aspects of 'The Film'.

Also fun, was the magnitude of the headache the final disposition of 'The Film' into the national archives caused elements of the US government. And to clarify, the physical elements of 'The Film' all 6 feet of it are all the government acquired. The copyright remained with the Zapruders till they donated that to The 6th Floor Museum in Dallas. This is Jim Moore's creation, and a VERY worthy cause in my view.

I'm in the midst of the Clifton Chronicles, a series of seven (so far) books by British author Jeffrey Archer that have been absolute page turners. The life story of Harry Clifton, his wife, their children and assorted friends and relatives. Starting in post WWI England a progressing to (I assume, though I'm only on book five and harry has just turned 50) the modern day, it's been great fun so far.

It took roughly six months to read the book, but I finally finished Anne Rice's Prince Lestat.

As an installment in the Vampire Chronicles, I quite enjoyed it. Anne Rice has always and will always be one of my favorite authors.

Right now, I am attempting to read Gardens of the Moon, by Steven Erikson, which was recommended to me by someone here on the forum. I have only gotten so far as the prologue.

Having finished the Clifton Chronicles, I can now say they are among the best books I have ever read. Top 50, at least. Wow. Just, wow.

Just got a used copy of "The Book of Unholy Mischief" on audio CD for a buck! Got the hard back a couple years back at the Dollar Tree, also for a buck. Smile Looking forward to the re-read. I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I do remember it was incredible fun. Hopefully the reader doesn't suck!
