The Eclipse, the Eclipse!!
RE: The Eclipse, the Eclipse!!
Our illustrious weatherman kept changing the forecast here. It was quite annoying to have them start giving extended forecasts a week out, and then change them everyday.

At 4:30AM the day of, KETV announced central NE would be clear, and that was that. Had permission to park in a field in central NE and we were off.

I suppose I should have ignored all the weather till the 4:30AM day of broadcast, but I didn't realize they were going to change the forecast every day.

Grrr.

And then the traffic forecasts were scary too, NDOR was assuming some pretty scary traffic counts and I didn't want to be 5 miles outside the path of totality and stuck in grid lock for the duration. Turned out for the entire day I was stopped for 5 minutes was all. Just didn't know that beforehand.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

The eclipse may be over, but you can still look at the Sun!  And, so, ignore the warnings on your eclipse glasses (of course they want to sell your more and more!):

Quote:Note: If your eclipse glasses or viewers are compliant with the ISO 12312-2 safety standard, you may look at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed Sun through them for as long as you wish. Furthermore, if the filters aren't scratched, punctured, or torn, you may reuse them indefinitely. Some glasses/viewers are printed with warnings stating that you shouldn't look through them for more than 3 minutes at a time and that you should discard them if they are more than 3 years old. Such warnings are outdated and do not apply to eclipse viewers compliant with the ISO 12312-2 standard adopted in 2015. To make sure you get (or got) your eclipse glasses/viewers from a supplier of ISO-compliant products, see the American Astronomical Society (AAS) Reputable Vendors of Solar Filters & Viewers (link is external) page.

RE: The Eclipse, the Eclipse!!
I have two completely unused sets of eclipse glasses and a 7"x12" sheet of the film left over from this eclipse that I'm totally going to sell in 2024.

Bonus: Amazon refunded me my purchase price on this stuff because of their "false advertising" thing saying they were NASA approved or whatever, so I basically got my glasses and film for free and and can now make some money off of them! Big Grin
