You are probably right, but his name won't be attached to anything and we aren't married so my success is my own. I'm really only in this for the kids because if I'm not here - they will have to go back to living with his ex and neither kid wants that. It's just a fucked up situation all around.

CIJS: OK Rick, I know you're new to this and it was not your idea to be here but it's your own damn fault. Time for a reality check.
Stop telling us how successful your are, your houses, your cars, your business, your money, blah, blah, blah. If your life is that great you wouldn't have crossed paths with the police and be facing jail time, fucked up your body in a crash and had an apparent substance induced stroke. And on top of everything expect us to give you pity.
You need a psych and inpatient eval. Or start accepting your early death. Your choice, time is growing short.

Do both he and the kids know that? If you can't get it thru, maybe his kids can. Or maybe nothing can. Only you know.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Yeah, forgive me if I'm being impertinent, but it seems like short-term changes might need attention too. Not criticizing, just offering my opinion, worth every penny you've paid for it.

CIJS,
I always found the following Bobby Fischer quote to be interesting: "all I want to do, ever, is play chess." Now, in regards to mathematics, I think I have reached a point of interest where I can say the following: "all I want to do, ever, is play with/understand math proofs.

CIJS: It saddens me that there are somewhat literate people still fail in giving proper order of resolution to basic Arithmetic... 5+2*10 is not 70.
I can understand that people don't understand why 0.99... = 1 in decimal. But jeez, get your priorities straight.

Unforuntately, he knows it and so do the kids. I just don't think he even cares at this point. T told me just the other day that he regrets even trying to work on a bond with his dad because he feels that it took away from our bond. This sort of stuff just tears me up because no child should be forced into a situation where both natural parents are so emotionally detached, that the kids have to look to a step-parent for nurturing. What the fuck is wrong with these people?
Maybe I could set a precedent and get custody of the kids based on being in Loco Parentis. The kids are old enough to tell a judge who they want to live with. Not that the judge has to abide by the kids wishes, but I have enough shit on both of them plus where the kids stand themselves, that I could probably pull it off and end up being their guardian.

I'm not very good at math, but don't you do the multiplication part first? So you would do the 2*10 which = 20 and then add the 5 for a total of 25, right?

That was my suggestion. Not knowing the particulars, I have no idea how you might go about it.
