LOL! What movie was that??? xD I've seen it I just can't remember the title.

It's from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.... although I don't think its actually from HGTTG, but a later book in the series (i'm not sure it's been so long since i read them...)
No, it's from the first (and greatest) book of the trilogy of 5.

RE: Hello, everyone
Well, the actual question generated by the computer (Earth) was "What is 6 times 9?" but because the Earth was destroyed 5 minutes before program completion, the mice had to make up the question. Not sure why the movie decided to go off from the story though.

To be honest, as a die-hard fan of H2G2 I was thoroughly disappointed by the movie. The book was a perfect piece of science fiction / comedy, and the film would have been so more successful if it had actually stuck to it. Marvin was rubbish; no offense meant to Alan Rickman, but he didn't have the voice or the attitude. Stephen Moore should have been hired to do Marvin and the whale (as in the original radio series) because Bill Bailey just wasn't the right character for it. Zaphod Beeblebrox was reduced from hyper-cool to a bumbling moron, and what happened to his two *actual* heads? The only decent portrayals of the characters were that of Arthur Dent and Trillian.

While I agree the movie was crap, I disagree with your critique of Alan Rickman. He did a great job as Marvin, but no-one could save that turd of a movie.

RE: Hello, everyone
He was ok, but he could never compare to the original radio series' Marvin. When I watched the movie, all I heard was Alan Rickman's voice coming from a robot. When I listen to the radio series or watch the TV series, I hear a robotic voice, not a human one. They gave him too much of a personal touch in the film, which is precisely the opposite of how the character is written (he has a malfunctioning personality chip).

I dunno why but I never fancied HHGTTG. I'm into sci-fi but not read much. Maybe I saw some excepts of the film and that put me off! lol

Sounds like I must give it a try.

I think the movie was ok, was too short though. But the books were better, they should have done the movie diffrently.

I'd definitely recommend it... the film really doesn't do it justice.

I've never listened to the radio series, I might give it a go

And didn't/wouldn't have made sense anyway because of the Golgafrinchan's that crash-landed on ancient Earth and screwed the program.

Yeah, I hated the film too ... loved the first two books (they went downhill after that), enjoyed the radio series but preferred the TV series (I suppose because I saw it first). I agree about the film except fro Trillian and Arthur ... I mean what was it with the romantic ending? Arthur couldn't have landed a girl like Trillian if he paid her!

Ah well.
