I'm a life long atheist. Though I must confess wanting to believe way back in Sunday school. Wanting to be part of the community I saw around me was very compelling. Naturally I asked Jesus into my heart numerous times. Got Baptized twice. Jesus never took, though. I was born a science geek. I was all about mother nature and what she was up to. And while the community in the church was compelling, their explanations on the structure of the universe were not. Got the impression they were more trying to sell me something than explain the ways of the universe to me. Went on to study physics. Funny thing is, I now find myself interested in studying "spirituality". Anyway, Hi yaz! how are y'all doing?

You sound similar to me, Rift Zone. While I never had any desire to believe, I was exposed to Catholicism at an early age and rejected it outright. Like you, I had an early interest in science, particularly astronomy. The attempted religious indoctrination just confused me. I didn't understand why they were feeding me this nonsense. It wasn't until I was around 12 or so before I realized most adults actually believed the Bible literally and it shocked me to the core.
You and I are proof that some people are just wired to be atheists. There is no way in hell that a 5-year-old is using critical thinking skills or logic to evaluate religious stories. Somehow, I was an atheist before I realized there was no Santa Clause. Anyway, welcome to the forum!
