What about getting together and North Carolina girls, now?
For the record, I live in Charlotte - a place I would highly promote as a gathering site...but sometime in the fall if you please. It's hot as balls here right now. We have a nice pub here called "The Flying Saucer" (which has a few other locations all over the south), where the girls wear short pleated skirts and knee socks and they have a ridiculously large beer selection. And it's fairly cheap to drink here (as compared to where I grew up in Northern VA). But I travel 6 hour distances all the time to visit family and friends and as long as I have a couch to crash on so I'm not paying the exorbitant prices for a passably clean hotel, I'm willing to make a drive. I actually have a great-Uncle in Louisville, KY and therefore would not mind making a drive that direction.
I say if we're going to do this thing. Lets do it right and give everybody a shit-ton of time to make preparations. I think it would be about a thousand times more fun to meet 8 to 10 people 500 miles away than meeting 2 or 3 in my own home state. (Not that I wouldn't be willing to do that too)
All I'm saying is that the red circle is where I'm willing to go provided we schedule it out for next year or something. Come-on people, it wouldn't be that big a deal to take your significant other on a long weekend and meet the rest of us for cocktails one evening. Don't forget -- most of you ARE atheists ... meaning, you only live once.
I would prefer to avoid a lot of the Midwest, and North Carolina is a civilized place.
Is that travel thread up yet?

You're one of the peeps I want to meet, summer. The fact that Chapel Hill is in your state is a distant runner up to beers with you, Rhythm, Cinjin et al..

Dude, there's a really nice Irish pub up there in Cary if we decide to meet in that half of the state.
I did mention that I used to be the door manager at a hellaciously cool Irish pub, didn't I. I am a connoisseur of Irish pubs. The best ones, in my opinion, are in Galway, Ireland, but the U.S. has gone crazy about Irish pubs, to good effect.
I'm in!
