Malnourished baby dies after parents fed him insanely strict vegan diet
"A 7-month-old baby in Belgium tragically died as a result of the strict diet his parents fed him, which exclusively consisted of gluten-free and lactose-free foods, as well as quinoa milk".

How can you be sure that without a brain you can't feel or think at all? Animals and plants have different bodies and they eat different, but they still both eat. Maybe plants have some inferior feelings and we don't know that. I'm not sure if this is true, it may be false. Science changes, what we were sure that it was true might be proven false some day. And even if they don't have feelings, they're still living things. Animals have a lesser power of reasoning, yet you still feel bad fo them. How can you not feel bad for a living thing who doesn't have emotions?

the burden of proof is on he who claims they do feel to prove not others to disprove
nothing is more natural than being mauled to death by a bear.
lets not confuse natural with good.
- sam harris (but not verbatim)
the natural argument is used by anti gay proponents & is a fallacy
quoting dead babies is rather extremist
is lewis Hamilton unhealthy?
its easy to go from one extreme to the other as im doing in the other direction to make a point
why should it concern anyone what others eat, dont eat or why?
Fyi im not vegan nor veggie but eat very little meat because im scared what it actually is here (dog, cat lizard etc) or how its been stored & prepared.....but I still get dehli belly regularly

Brain is what we know sentience, emotions, feelings come from. If youre trying to say one does not require a brain for that, the burden of proof is on you.

Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Vegans, I think, tend to have good and sufficient reasons for the dietary choices they make. Ecologically, it is a much better choice than a meat-centered diet, for example - it takes an insane amount (don't recall the actual figure) of kilos of plant matter to produce a single pound of beef, with a concomitant consumption of associated resources.
My only real quibble with vegans is that they tend to be so bloody smug about it. You want to live on grains, vegetable, fruits and textured soy protein, that's your business, and I'm not about to sneer at you for it. But please have a similar view and don't sneer at me for eat braised cow sector now and then.

Yeah i never understood why some people seem to have a problem with what other people choose to eat.

Our understanding is that animals are sentient and plants are not. Of course there are limitations to that, but I think it's a pretty good rule of thumb. That being said, I don't care what diet anyone else chooses to eat. It's none of my beeswax.

They don't have brains.
Neither do republicans, but we're supposed to treat them humanely.
