To go from Alpha Centuri to earth , a ship would have to travel 20 million miles an hour for 10 years. Through the Oort cloud. All that just to beam up a few rednecks.

What sort of evidence would rule out an Extraterrestrial intelligence?

Aliens existing and said aliens visiting planet earth are two completely unrelated hypotheses. The first one is highly probable, the second one; show me the monkeys.

For the record - I chose the 3rd option in the poll cuz I wanted just to see the results.

1. I doubt they're here on Earth. In orbit - may be. For at least 2 decades we're on the verge of a global war and the actions of some recently elected individuals help strengthen that feeling. The aliens probably know that and I doubt they would make the mistake to land.
2. No. The bible is a hoax. No one and nothing can convince me we're the only intelligent species in the entire universe.
3. The bullshit book a.k.a Bible is full of evidence for advanced civilizations have taken part in the events described in that book. It is possible that they were alien.
4. What about it? Roswell is in New Mexico and both are on American Truck Simulator.
5. That is definitely a hoax whose purpose is for lesser people to have their 5 minutes of fame. Even if that fame doesn't go farther than the yellow pages that only nutjobs believe.

Last Sky and Tel or Science News (IIRC) had article on earth's magnetic field being the 'weird thing to explain' as opposed to Venus lack of a magnetic field.

The argument being the no (or really weak) magnetic field is the 'default' characteristic of inner rocky planets and earth's relatively stronger field being what needs explained. And the explanation is the giant early impact that formed our moon in an oblique impact as being sufficient to disrupt a planetary magnetic field via deep mixing of the early earth's inner layers. The resulting core/mantle being much more favorable to allowing a stronger field to develop and persist.

So what's the angle on ET ??

We've taken earth to be a 'typical' rocky planet. Well, it's now less 'typical' than it was with this better understanding of Venus. The stronger field is a good thing for allowing evolution at a more controlled rate and regulating irradiation effects here. But we otta consider it another rather more rare characteristic of Minshara class worlds which we might want to be more common in the galaxy than they might actually be.
