What would you change about the American public school system?

I think kids should spend less time in school and subjects should be more optional, cutting down the amount of time required in school.

The top priority lessons should be the usual maths, science and English, in my day IT wasn't a big deal but that should be a much bigger deal now if it isn't already.

The bottom priority should be things like music, drama and art, they should pretty much be cut out of school so kids should learn about those things when they want to and in whatever way they want to in their own time.  

When I say cut out I mean as specific lessons, artistic, music related and drama related talents should still be encouraged via other lessons such as in IT.  Making youtube videos, graphic design, all of that sort of stuff.

I'm probably sounding like an old man because I don't even know if they still have IT lessons or if they still call it that.  It's basically information technology or in other words, working with computers.
