Something old people today will never understand

RE: Something old people today will never understand
Well then. I might have the unpopular opinion here. I don’t understand previous generations constantly dismissing today’s music, dance, technology, etc. Sure, I love my 60-80s playlist. I love going to parties where the theme is a certain decade and the music will take me back. I enjoyed play without phones and reading a book in my hand whilst having to flip pages. That doesn’t mean that what kids have today sucks. Some of their music is actually quite good. Not all of it, but back in my days, not all music was fantastic, either. It’s just easier today to put yourself out there, so talentless people get famous, too. Yes, being on your phone is disrespectful at the dinner table. I agree. But I’m annoyed by people who complain, “Oh, there they go again, taking pictures with their phone instead of living the moment.” Balance, people. If a person had a cool and expensive camera and was taking pictures, nobody would say anything. People back in my day would take pictures with one use cameras all the time. If it’s with a phone, though. The nerve! Some dude was mad that a parent was on her tablet while her kids were at the park. Why? She’s reading, obviously. If she was holding a book to her face, would that make it better? Psssssh. Grouches.

And I disagree about rap music. I like various genres of music and I can definitely enjoy some good ol’ rap when the mood calls for it. Spread your wings!

To be honest, I like at least one tune from a wide variety of genres. I have everything from Flamenco to acid rock on my laptop and iPod. As a genre, rap doesn't appeal to me, but I can listen to some of it.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I've given up on keeping up with all the acronyms that are being used these days. I used to google when I came across a new one but now, nope.

Also, since this is apparently an old fart thread, does everybody know there are apps for repelling annoying teenagers? My 55 year old coworker told me he has an app that plays high frequency tones that adults can't typically hear but younger people can. He used it in a coffee shop and - voila - the annoying teens around him went away! Big Grin
