Hi everyone I decided to join today coz it seems like a friendly enough enviroment. I am a recent convert and would love to make more atheist friends (most my friends are old church buddies who think im going to fry in hell) so anyway im from Australia (best country in the world hehe) and I make coffees for a living, play bass, love music, read lots of books.

please recommend me some good science books i need to brush up on my knowledge. anyway this is already long winded. Peace out.

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum.

I know there are more Australians around.

Is there a particular area of science that you are interested in? Books on science is a bit broad topic.

Welcome. I'm an a.i. researcher myself, so I'd recommend some books about a.i. However, a.i. doesn't make for interesting subject material in debating theists. I'd probably just recommend some books about logic and brushing up on the scientific method.

The books I would recommend are:

"Great Feuds in Science: Ten of the Liveliest Disputes Ever" by Hal Hellman
"Why Elephants Have Big Ears: And Other Riddles from the Natural World" by Chris Lavers
"Bully for Brontosaurus: Reflections in Natural History" by Stephen J. Gould
"A Moral Reckoning: The Role of the Church in the Holocaust and Its Unfulfilled Duty of Repair" by Daniel Jonah Goldhagen and (last but not least)
"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins (and indeed anything else written by him).

Hi Matt

Welcome along.

I'd recommend The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene..

Hello Matt welcome to the forums!
