Best Compliments

RE: Best Compliments
Doesn't really bother me, tbh. I can see why people care if others like it, I just don't feel that way.

I only do it for the music really.

I still feel uncomfortable about it, but mostly because I have a hard time truly trusting men. When I do trust them, it's very nice to get. Tongue

I guess because I was always hanging around or being in classes with the nerds who were varying levels of genius or just smart that it didn't really bother me. Some were brilliant at things the rest of us slogged through and the other way around. I like smart people, but I guess when it comes to that I'm like frankie...I know my limits and I know what I'm good at.

On the other hand, I always felt left out when it came to clothes and make up and all that. You know those magazines say "be yourself" and then give all sorts of advice on how to dress for one body type. I have a big ass and felt frumpy and grandmotherly all the time. When I moved out of my ex's apartment, I finally had the space and time to really dig into research about clothes making (something I'm trying to get into) and suddenly it all clicked. You know who made the best feedback? My "king". As a short man (he's my height!) he has to deal with everything being hemmed and reshaped to properly fit him and he just picked tips up along the way. When I first found one of those 50's type dresses and asked what he thought, the nicest compliment was the...*ahem*...'reaction' and 'reward' he gave me. Big Grin

Conversely to all this though, the worst thing someone can do is try to insult my intelligence. I'm so used to feeling ugly and awkward still that it doesn't bother me, but don't treat me like I'm stupid and don't condescend to me.

I'd say "don't make me come over there" but that's what you want, isn't it, you schmuck. Big Grin
