Secularism on the rise in the US.
|
A few years back I was in Mercy Hospital. It had been named "St. John's Mercy" for many years, but the "St. John's" was causing problem. So they just pretended it was a secular institution.
Anyway, while I was in isolation this guy just strolls in, no mask or anything. "Your admission notes say you stated 'NONE' for a religious preference. Is there no spiritual power at all that you believe in?" I looked at him. He ran from the room.
Good news? I don't know about all that.
It's contributed to the rise of the Alt-Right movement. Lol...Just sayin'. I think whether the impact is ultimately good, bad, effectively the same, or decidedly worse for this country remains to be seen. So they just pretended it was a secular institution. My BFF spent some time in a rest home setting after having her hip replaced. I was visiting one day when a lady strolled in (BFF's room was the last one on the hall and the door was CLOSED) wanting to pray with us and hand out pamphlets from her church. Talk about a captive audience. I was appalled. BFF, who is a believer of a higher power and is well aware of my atheism, was also appalled. She ran her off.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Plenty of these far Left "progressive" secularists are just singing Alt-Right melodies in a different key. They still fap to their fantasies of the Great Reckoning. They're just not willing to go as far to see it occur...for now. Lol...Give 'em a few years. They'll come around. I wouldn't trust them to run a bath, much less this country. As a non American, watching the elected Republicans' behaviour since Prez Trump was elected has been been very interesting. My perception is that those bottom feeders have shown their priorities very clearly; getting re elected and keeping their perceived personal power. I've long believed this to be true. However, I have never before seen a more blatant example in a democratic country, at federal level.*** I will be very surprised if Prez Trump is ever impeached. In fact I honestly believe that enough American voters are stupid enough that he will be reelect him. I hope I'm wrong, truly I do. ** I've seen that level of personal corruption here, in local government.
I've long since found it absurd for any hospital to have a religious name. But to be fair, when you go to other parts of the world you see the Muslim Crescent Moon on an ambulance and in Israel the Jewish Star of David on theirs. A am the outsider thinking, "Your religion isn't doing that, doctors are, science is."
