There were 112,163 measles cases in the first 3 months of 2019 compared to 28,124 cases in the same time period of 2018.
According to the World Health Organization, worldwide instances of measles have tripled from January through March of 2019 compared to the same time frame in 2018, The Guardian reports. The outbreak arises during a period in which anti-vaccination campaigns and concerns surrounding them continue to intensify and garner international attention, especially over social media platforms.
The highly contagious disease is entirely preventable through a two-dose vaccine, but the WHO has expressed concern about declining global vaccination rates for quite some time.

Fuck anti-vaxers.
It is only reasonable that the health safety of the majority be considered above the silly opinions of the few anti-vaxers.
In my view, this has far less to do with western anti-vaccine types, and much more to do with the migrant crisis that has engulfed the world over the last 7 or 8 years. I don't think that the rise in rates is any accident, especially considering where everyone is coming from and where they are going to.

My mum messaged me last night to say she doesn't think I was vaccinated. I'm now middle aged with MS and if I got measles I'd be fucked. I'm wondering if I can now get vaccinated.

From middle school on I was in school with a girl who had contracted polio when she was quite young. I don't know what all she went through but by the time I met her she had one leg much smaller than the other and that leg was also turned out to the side a bit. She had a very noticeable limp. It wasn't till I met her that I knew part of the reason for those sugar cubes.
The first time I received the oral polio vaccination was in 1967. I had just started my senior year in high school.
I remember getting the polio vac cube when I was in the elementary school I attended K-3. We moved from that town in the summer of '66.
With all the vaccination talk...when I was 2 I nearly died from a Typhoid inoculation. That always raises some eyebrows when I have to fill out allergy information. I was just told from the time I was very young not to ever get another one.

It seems that the epidemics happen in areas where vaccination is low. Put it this way. If a migrant moves into an area who has a contagious disease in an area with vaccination carried out correctly it is not an issue. Also people travel now, an unvaccinated person goes to an area where it is still present and bring it home to an area where vaccination is low we have the same issue.
All that is required for an increase in the disease is stupid anti vaxxers.
