Lack of buying power is pretty key. It's not like we don't produce the food and other items that would lift them out of poverty. They simply can't buy it (sometimes even when they could afford it, we've just decided that it isn't worth the hassle and the margins are too slim).

I also agree that the monetary system is inherantly flawed and set up as to ensure poverty among common people and the poor. here is a small video i found last week that explains fiat money and it's flaws in 4 mins.

I agree. Oil and many commodities are sold in the dollar. So the fed can just print more money to buy an actual product without creating a product itself. Ahhhh fiat monetary system, works good for the people printing the money.
When country's like Iraq want to accept other money for the oil the US has a real problem with it. Iran is doing it as well.
In 2000, Iraq converted all its oil transactions under the Oil for Food program to euros.[2] When U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, it returned oil sales from the euro to the USD.[3]

Meanwhile, the developed countries subsidize their farmers to an extent that allows them to sell on the global market at prices that undercut farmers of developing countries, effectively allowing us to 'dump' food on them. It's one thing to send food aid to the Horn of Africa when there's a crisis; it's another to put them in the position of being net food inporters year in and year out because they can't compete with our prices. Needing subsidies is a sign you're in the wrong business. First world farmers shouldn't be supported on the backs of Third World farmers.

Is that what happens in your area? Kind of the reverse here. GL undercutting mexican tomatoes (or labor). Can't steal the pesticide business from the third world either, too cheap, and the flowers are hand picked.
1st world has high capital investment, heavily mechanized low labor ag, 3rd world has low investment, high labor little to no mech. Only extremely well established companies can compete, and they're usually multinationals with no particular reverence for any country, 1st or 3rd.
