Hide works ok, as does everything else I'm aware of. I'm using Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows 7 (I know, I know. I've heard all the jokes!) Never seemed to have much of a problem before.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
Very strange. Works ok with my FF on W7. I'll have a fiddle tomorrow..

I can confirm the spoiler tag doesn't work on my iPhone.
My suggestion would be to just use CSS. There is a reason for the hide tag to use JavaScript; not so for a spoiler tag.

Making text invisible only works for text.
