I was in and out of the grocery store by 6:30 this morning. As it turns out, the best time to go to avoid people. *Note to self.

So, a strange thing happened a couple weeks ago: I like to stream Music with a Verbatim MediaShare, usually playing albums in order. However, for reasons I strongly suspect are due to a recent update in iOS (yes, I’m running the most recent version) this is no longer possible for whatever reason. I try to play a song, and when it finishes, I have to change it to the next track, and that’s if I’m lucky. If I’m unlucky, the mere act of selecting a song causes the app to crash. Note that it worked perfectly normally until a few weeks ago. So, Dad ordered another media streamer, this time a RAV PowerHub, and if anything, its symptoms are even worse, since not only does it not go to the next track and not only does it occasionally crash when I select an MP3 to play, but when I try to make it go to the next song, it invariably crashes. We’re taking with a rep from RAVpower and they’re on the case. This may or may not lead to anything.

For what it’s worth, I still have one more streamer with some function, although I’ve tried to use it with some success, so far, it’s having some trouble maintaining an internet connection. This may have to do with the fact that I tried it after it had just started to charge.

Just had a video call with our dog, who apparently is unhappy we aren't at home. She seemed pretty chill. My stepson is caring for her. Eventually she will be joining us once we figure out our long term plans.

Now we're trying up some fish for dinner and planning our weekend, which is going to consist of hanging out at the beach.

Well, one other thing that’s been happening: Dad and I have a violin, one that’s apparently a heirloom instrument (although recent research suggests that it’s something Grandpa bought Grandma in the 1950s, which I suppose makes it technically a heirloom), but Dad’s been wanting to fix it up, although neither of us can play it (what with it not being a fretted plucked string instrument). Here’s an old photo of it. 


And, after consulting a professional, it turns out there’s a lot of structural problems that are rendering it pretty much a display instrument. One of these problems: mold. Fortunately, Dad used a cleaner that’s supposed to fix it. Unfortunately, that’s not all it’s cleaned off.  And, as a result, it’s gained a bad case of vitiligo.

So, we’re down, but not out. Fortunately, we’ve still got some of the blood red stain we used for the ukulele. And, inspired by that and the scene from The Red Violin where not-Stradivarius adds his newly-deceased wife’s blood to the varnish into his new violin, we’ve decided to make a real Blood Red Violin.
