Still debating what bottle of whiskey to get my brother-in-law. I think it comes down to the Balvenie Double Wood or something else. The Bruichladdich Classic Laddie would be different and nice. I haven't thought of anything for my sisters yet. They're a little harder to shop for.

Not that you asked anybody's whiskey advice, but here goes: get the one you are least likely to (out of boredom) unwrap and drink before his birthday. RE: What's everyone up to right now?

They're a little harder to shop for. Ha! No, I wouldn't do that. Besides, I've got six unopened bottles of my own that I can dip into. I was thinking earlier, though, a month ago I bought a 24 pack of Minnesota craft beer singles from Lund's grocery. He's always giving me new beers to try, so I think he'd enjoy one of those samplers. I can get him the whiskey glasses and whiskey for Christmas. I'm not a big fan of Glenmorangie, but the Glenmorangie sampler is nicely priced and gives the less experienced scotch drinker the experience of trying the same scotch that has been finished in 4 different cask styles. Plus, it comes in a fancy box. The glasses and the sampler would be a good idea for Christmas.
Getting ready to go camping with a bunch of hippies.
Ran 50 sticks though the power sander to get them to the proper thickness (that of the saw blade). Now I have to run them through the table saw to get them all the same width. I'm making a kumiko wood project. I bought wood ostensibly the correct width and thickness, but then my saw blade turned out to be thinner than the company's advertised thickness. Not their fault, but I just spent 2 hours this morning sanding them all to the same thickness. I'll be addressing the width issue tomorrow. It's actually less labor-intensive than just cutting the wood to size myself, but barely.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
I've been a garage/basement guitarist since I was a teen and it was always a teenage dream to have a Marshall full stack (50-100 watt tube amp head + 2 4x12 speaker cabinets) - but such a setup is rediculously overpowered for even most gigging guitarists let alone a non-performing guitarist, not to mention the expense.
I got an unexpected bonus back in April and I decided to spring for a new amp, but I had some pretty stringent requirements - it had to be tube not solid-state, and had to have an effects loop. I vacillated over the decision for months and finally pulled the trigger. I found a lightly used 50w amp head that can be attenuated to 5w so you can still get that sweet tube overdrive at reasonable volume. Paired it up with a 2x12 140w speaker cabinet. It's still a bit of overkill - at 50w this is more than enough amp to fill a decent sized venue with sound. When everyone is gone, I'm looking forward to seeing how loud this thing will go. The springs were available at a local building supply store and I was able to effect repairs myself.

Waiting for my sisters to call. I'm going over there for barbecue. They're usually late, so I've probably got some time before they call.
Watching baseball. I have a new homemaker coming Monday, so I need to do some prep.
