You DO realize that you are responding to an 8 year old post, yes? "The Germans are coming" was a member whom I believe was banned many years ago. I suspect that he's making a joke about his penis.
No bladed weapons? Not even a machete for clearing out the back yard jungle? I have dozens of wood carving tools with many shapes, axes, hatchets, and one of my sons has a small collection of swords, and a machete.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

There’s exemptions called ‘lawful excuse’ - work, recreation, sport, or if you’re a collector. What this means is that you can carry a box cutter if you have a job that requires you to open boxes, you can take your Swiss Army knife on a camping, holiday, and so on. The law refers to ‘carrying’ these things, not owning them.

OK, so I'm a good little Scout and am prepared, by carrying my Swiss Army knife pretty much wherever I go, not just camping. Is that a potential sore spot with the law?

No, I didn't realise it was an old thread. My bad.
In Oz we may carry a bladed weapon up to 5 inches long, I think Swiss army knives are safe. Same with bladed tools such as a machete , sickle or scythe using for clearing grass or whatever. I have set of kitchen knives. There are five knives, ranging from 4 to 8 inches. There are restrictions here on bows*** and all manner of martial arts weapons.
I think perhaps the differences between the US and Australia with guns are: We have no bill of rights. being able to have a gun has never been a right here. Plus Australia had never had a gun culture even approaching the lunacy of that in the US. Not lunacy? Why then has there been no political response to mass shootings? I'm think especially of the 2017 massacre in Las Vegas, where alone gunman with an arsenal killed 60 people and wounded 411. Then there was Sandy Hook elementary school murders in 2012. 28 CHILDREN were murdered. Since 1970 the US has had 1,369 school shootings. Talk about the murder of the innocents. Yet throughout it all there's been that fool/criminal Wayne Lapierre and others of the NRA calling for ever more guns. I guess it's just me, I simply don't understand America's pioneer spirit, with millions of rugged individuals who prefer to allow children to be murdered rather than give up their precious guns.

Today, a chain reaction spurred on by my trying to read a text from Dad (and, yes, I pulled over and parked before reading it) led to me accidentally emptying my water bottle and it hit a lot of the book. Dad and I took some time trying to resurrect it (using an iron with heat, but no steam) , and given that some of the pages got torn, I’m not sure whether or not we fixed it or made it worse. Once I finish it and rip it to my computer, We’re returning it to them in person and throwing ourselves on the mercy of the library I checked it out of. Welp, I finally went to return it to the library. And it turns out that they decided “you break it, you bought it.” I had to pay $155 for it (my Dad let me use his card, at least), and because buying the bloody thing on Amazon and saving $60 would be sensible, it apparently isn’t an option.

News from the tracking event.
A contestant was driving in late last night with her deer hound and got into a car wreck (not her fault), the car was totaled and was taken to police impound. She had to be taken to the hospital for an eval. One of the event locals came and got the dog and took it to the boarding kennel that she works at. Went to the vet this am. Both the woman and dog were fine. The next problem, no rental cars available in the city and all of her stuff was at the impound lot. So she got picked up and they went to the event, she drew the first track, usually the most desirable. Problem, all she had to wear while running the track was flip flops (all her stuff was still at the impound which was closed and they didn't think to stop and buy boots) and it was around 50 degrees at start time. After an hour they finished, got bundled into another persons car, went to the impound and got her things and then driven some 70 odd miles to get a rental car to return home.
If that wasn't enough one of the judges had her scalp sliced open by a dog's newly clipped toe nails during the excitement at the end of the third track. She was bending over congratulating the dog when it jumped. My wife said they couldn't stop the bleeding and they were a mile from any vehicles. Finally got back to the cars (judge in her 70's) and they took her to the ER where she received 5 stitches.

Resurrecting old threads isn't a crime around here, anymore. It just didn't seem timely, in context. Don't rely on me for the rules, I'm just another greasy guy, around here. I won't argue that some of the gun legislation around here in the US isn't lunacy, on both sides. I'd consider moving to one or the other of Oz or NZ, but the entry fee for a non-contributing member of the society there is pretty steep- that is, I worked and contributed for decades here, in the US. I have done zilch in either Oz or NZ, so I would expect to have to pay something for those decades, as now that I'm old, and in declining health (just getting old), I'd just be a drain on the system. And I sure as fuck have earned my leisure here. Not there. I recently finished Stephen Pinker's book, "The Better Angels of Our Nature", wherein he describes the reduction in violence over time amongst mankind. If I had to project the eventual reduction of the stupidity and gun violence we see here, I'd have to say that the US is going to have to be a millennium older and far more densely populated before that might happen. I truly hope that I'm wrong in that assessment.

Just a quick update for anyone who may be curious about my prolonged absenses.
What do you mean, "none of us have given it a second thought'?
I'm still currently in remission, but my health is continuing to decline and we can't find the reason.
I will be trying to be on more.
Iggy, you're still flammable.

On TV, not existing in the real world.
