What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Marveling at a simple fix. I've again been dealing with a broken rib. Not sure why my ribs keep breaking, but whatever. Didn't bother with the doctor as I knew the drill...spend this on an X-ray so we can tell you the X-ray didn't pick it up so go pay a whole lot more to have a CT scan. Then we will tell you it's broken and not do anything about it. Tell you they don't wrap ribs because it can depress breathing and can cause pneumonia and don't give anything for pain. Well I've been dealing for about two weeks and am exhausted. So I ordered a rib wrap from Amazon because you also can't take deep breaths if it fucking hurts to breathe...just sayin'. I have had it on for about three hours now and feel better than I have in days.

I understand the issues with the narcotics problems here but damn it...sometimes people need relief from pain.

I will take the wrap off before I go to sleep but it'll be the first thing I put on in the morning.

Yeah, they definitely suck. I know that they say don't wrap but I've rapped mine in the past. Not tight, just enough for support and to remind me that to much movement will hurt.

Mine could have also been costochondritis, pleurisy or pulled muscle.

Hope you mend soon.

Hah! When I had foot surgery this year, the doctor prescribed Norco, same as after the other foot surgery (different doctor) a couple of years ago. They gave me all kinds of warnings about taking it. I guess the real problem is paranoia about getting sued if someone gets hooked? Surgery seems to have come a long way. When I had foot surgery in '04 and '05, it hurt like the blazes. Not so bad, this time. Amazing what 15 years of medical improvements are like.

Take care of yourself.

And stop breaking ribs.

Mentally preparing myself to suffer another two weeks at this place before I move on, hopefully to a better facility.

Yeah, I was petty and gave my two weeks notice, but honestly I didn't much care for the place almost from the beginning. My first night, one of the nurses begged, please don't quit on us, it's not that bad here. I beg to differ, and it nightly becomes more apparent why the in-house staff is a minority while agency fills the place. Heck, even regular agency people aren't a thing, because they don't even want to return.

Went on Indeed last night and applied to a few places, because in this field they are currently urgently hiring.

Have been watching YouTube.

Just went into the kitchen and Himself had just shat on the floor, again. But, this time it was about 3 inches long and sat there in vertical mode. Perhaps I've led a sheltered life, but that was a new experience for me. Cool

Camped on Monterrey Bay south of the San Francisco Bay area, there's a light rain and there was some wind earlier, conveniently while we were pitching the tent in the dark.

Out at hatteras, high tides at dawn and dusk all week. Caught some spot, mullet, trout, and baby blues on the surf side yesterday, might try the sound today. Gotta get to bed early, headed out at 4am for the offshore leg tomorrow.

Big ass deer between the dunes last night about 11p

The wind died down about when we decided to retire, it rained off and on all night, but we stayed dry and relatively warm.

Back on the 101, about 50 miles north of San Luis Obispo. We've decided against taking the faster route and we fancy a chili dog so we're staying on 101 and hitting Pink's in LA before heading east towards Arizona.

No idea where we're sleeping tonight except that it's somewhere between LA and Yuma. After that we're going to take three days to get to Nogales, visiting friends along the way.

After re-figuring our route, we're about 1400 km down, about 2800-3000 km to go.
