What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
RE: What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?
I'm a little disappointed. I'd been raising them as de-facto pagans on the sly. Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

My sis showed me this nice pub where they do a terrific  Seniors Special lunch.

On the way home she showed me an Auto mart place where I bought a pen to cover small pebble dings on my car (it's clear)

Also discovered an interesting miniseries called 'DopeSick'.  Based on the true story about how a drug company conned Americans into believing that a class 2 opioid was not addictive. They began with the FDA. So far the company has agreed to pay $8 billion in compensation. No way to know how many Americans have died because of this drug.

"Dopesick is a American drama miniseries created by Danny Strong based on the non-fiction book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America by Beth Macy. The first three episodes of the eight-episode series were released on October 13, 2021, on Hulu.[1][2] "

The Wife and I were watching that last night. It's well done.

Stepping in fresh warm dog shit bare foot on a 45 degree morning then washing with the cold hose is a bit disturbing.

Similar mornings, but I walked on my heel until I could use warm water from the shower head and it was 61 degrees. Giving pupper credit, it was right by the back door so he clearly would have done it outside if he could have waited. Puppy steps.

What Up, my Sensitive Nuclear Technologies? What's that? You don't know what the fuck I'm talking about?

Apparently, чят, the Russian word for "Chat" (as in chatroom) is mistranslated in Google Translate as "Sensitive Nuclear Technologies." Or at least it was in 2017 when Garry Kasparov wrote Deep Thinking. And he discovered this when he was reading his Twitter feed on a friend's translator being automatically translated and he found people saying "Hello, sensitive nuclear technologies!" It's apparently a holdover from the Soviet Union days when some people used the abbreviation чят as an acronym for "Sensitive Nuclear Technologies."

I'd love to use "Sensitive Nuclear Technologies" as a vocative pronoun. So, that's what I just did.

^ Huh. I actually had a security clearance in the Navy and in industry to work with sensitive nuclear technologies.

TikTok has been around since 2015.

But it's only recently become popular?

Freddie Oversteegen (1925-2018) was a member of the Dutch resistance in WWII. Her family hid a Jewish couple in their home, but that wasn't enough for Freddie. After joining the Haarlem Council of Resistance at the age of 14, she and her older sister Truus and their friend Hannie Schaft used dynamite to disable bridges and railroad tracks used by the Nazis and successfully smuggled dozens of children out of concentration camps and detention centres. At 15, Freddie shot and killed a German soldier while riding her bicycle. She would also lure soldiers into a local forest with promises of sex and then kill them.

Why the fuck hasn't Quentin Tarantino made a film about this amazing woman?? I mean, come on - violence, sex, explosions, dead Nazis - this shit is right in his wheelhouse.

I think that has to do with the fact that before, YouTube was doing what TikTok does now. Now YouTube is it's own corporatized thing pushing its own programming that makes it tons of money. This programming tends to be more polished and then also you have gaming. YouTube no longer is a place you go to find randos posting stupid shit... TikTok does that now. TikTok is picking up YouTube's slack on that front.
