Xmas isn't a dead loss because Sis and I have a spiffo lunch.

The country also closes down for Good Friday. I don't observe Easter (what with being an atheist and all)  All it means to me is I can't get bread or milk should I want any.  IE A very minor inconvenience at worst.

I had this friend who was also an ex Catholic. I made an incorrect assumption:  I sent her a photo of a dead rabbit on the side of the road. Right near it was an upturned basket and a scattering of easter eggs in foil.  She said I was sick.  Huh

Hilarious Yer my kind of sick!

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

 Fascinating

Does that include images of Miriam in pieces of toast or fresh produce?  Why are people always so sure the image is of Jesus' mum, rather than say Janis Joplin?

By the looks of it, it seems that Virgin Mary likes to show her ass mostly in Catholic countries. Like, look at the difference between England and Ireland.

There was a gravel road outside the town where I grew up that was known by most everyone as BVM (Blessed Virgin Mary) road. It was a popular place to park and do things that the BVM wouldn't do. If you parked facing east toward town there appeared to be an image of Mary in her pale blue robes at the T intersection. It was, in fact, how the yard light on the farm there reflected off the one end of the barn. Her presence didn't seem to deter the activities the road was famous for.
