Christian movies you actually like
Come on now, I can't be the only one. Have anyone here watched a Christian movie that they actually kinda enjoyed?

I didn't think it was possible, but I actually enjoyed one Christian movie about a group of fathers and cops called "Courageous." It was made by the Kendrick Brothers who went on to make several Christian movies just because they felt there was a lack of them. It's basically about people who try to be better fathers to their children and better police officers by seeding out corruption. It actually has a lot of humor in the film and I don't feel that the God talking points are as preachy as a lot of Christian movies are. Actually if you take out all the Christian elements, it still stands on its own as a good film. It's a lot better and less crazy than God's not Dead.

Discuss.

Yes. Little Boy (2015). I don't have a fondness or sentimentality towards faith anymore and I think it is damaging and traumatic to indoctrinate children with the concept.

However, for this movie, I'll suspend all my passionate feelings about anti-theism and my morals and just enjoy the fantasy that faith is real and healthy. That little boy who plays Pepper is amazing. It's a deliberate "make you cry" movie and I don't care. I'm shameless and cry when Pepper cries every souldamned time.

Mmm.

Not in recent years.

When I was at school (I was 11 and 12) the school took us to see The Ten Commandments  and Ben Hur ("A story of the Christ")  The next day at school, we were given a homily with each film as the subject.(didn't see that at the time)

At 18 I saw "The Greatest Story Ever Told", the story of Jesus' ministry, death and resurrection.  It starred Max Von Sydow as Jesus.  I thought it was terrific. I venture to say I'd almost certainly be less impressed today.

Couldn't sit through The Last Temptation Of Christ, I think. It starred Willem Dafoe.

Didn't make it half way through "The Passion Of The Christ", made by the devout conservative Catholic Mel Gibson.  Catholics from the Vatican down thought it was just fucking dandy.  I thought the violence was pornographic. Still do.

I think Nicholas Cage made a film called "Left Behind", and its sequels Left Behind 2 and 3. It's about those who are left behind after "The Rapture."  Also starring little Kirky Cameron, it's free to watch on Youtube. I dare ya.

There are lots, but I'll throw out a few: The Exorcist, Raiders of the Lost Arc, The DaVinci Code, Devils Advocate, Little Niky, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

But they're fiction. Umm, no, wait.

Speaking of The Exorcist, I recently saw the prequel. It's not too bad, and there are sequels. There's also a bunch of 'The Omen' around
