What do you know today that you didn't know yesterday?

Blintzes filled with chicken curry are loads better than the cheesy-fruity ones.

is what a tiger's ears look like from the back. Zoologists theorize that it's an evolutionary adaption. The white spots look like eyes to deter any predators sneaking up on a tiger from behind.

I am now less frightened of tigers than I am of any animal that is capable of preying on tigers.

I'm having a hard time imagining what animal is stupid enough to sneak up on a tiger.

I learned this some years ago at the big cat rescue outside of town.  I have pictures somewhere of one of their tigers sitting in his water tank.  The shot is behind him and shows his 'eye spots' on the back of his ears.  Pretty cool.

Found the pic -

Also learned to watch for signs...these big beasts can, and will, pee on you....from several feet away.

Ann Druyan and Carl Sagan had wanted “Heres Comes the Sun” by the Beatles on the Voyager spacecraft’s Golden Record. The Beatles themselves also wanted it there! The record label, however, wanted NASA to pay up the wazoo for the rights to shoot the song into space, I suppose to make up for lost sales revenue from alien record stores and interstellar piracy.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

If you publish a book in Norway, the government will buy 1000 copies (1550 if it's a children's book) and ship them to libraries around the country.
