If COVID-10 vaccination strongly immunized against infection and transmission, I could see a valid argument for vaccine mandates.
The problem is that it doesn't. If this were a Polio vaccine (and Polio becomes an epidemic again), I think there is a different argument.
Sure. And if a new black plague comes around, I'd gladly support the military going around to hold people down and put the vaccine in them. This is why I try not to parrot the abortion "my body, my choice" line when talking about vaccination, because I do support most vaccine mandates. This one, however, is a different story, and thankfully even the CDC sees that supporting a mandate for the kids would mean chaos and horror for the country.

Unlike the byzantine regulations of the DMV (shortly before the world ended, I found out that, apparently, my fucking birth certificate showing I was born in Chicago is somehow not sufficient to prove I am an American Citizen and thus eligible for Real ID), or the long-term impact of generational wealth, this is something that can be rectified fairly simply. It might be a bit harder to distribute more vaccination sites in black-majority areas (I don't know how the CDC chooses these things), but at least that's comparatively simple to fix.
Nope, that's not the solution. If you had a vaccine mandate in schools all around the country, tens of millions of children would be barred from school due to having hard liner true believer parents who wouldn't take the vaxx for a million bucks. The only solution is to do what the CDC did. Suggest no mandates whatsoever, but let the parents choose. Vaccines help with severity of infection, but they don't prevent spread, which is in part why the CDC relaxed restrictions so, so much lately. Did you know that the CDC say an unvaccinated at school and a vaccinated child should be treated the exact same? No social distancing for either of them. No isolating after coming into contact with a positive case. Time for all of us here to move forward and accept that the CDCs new recommendations are for the best. With mandates, the country would fall apart and a generation of children would be completely fucked.
For the record, I was specifically talking about the Washington DC case, where the black population is getting left behind by vaccine mandates. And, as it turns out, despite all the issues I pointed out about black people's relationship with the white medical establishment, their rates of hesitancy are plummeting, and it seems the big issue is subpar access to the vaccine.
And are we sure the CDC's loosened their guidelines solely because the virus isn't as bad as it was? Are we sure some of it might not be because their power is being hobbled by the courts? Because a lot of the shit the right have been balking at (from masks to vaccination to social distancing) are still being recommended; they're just recommending it more because they can't make anyone follow it.
The thing about the vaccines not preventing spread is a bit of an oversimplification: the prevention of spread of the disease tends to happen more when we've got a sufficient percentage of the population vaccinated. Problem is, we've barely even reached that point for the original Alpha variant.

So
1. IA hasn't shown any white supremacy
2. Just because the CDC is being cowardly and giving into the irrational nonsense Anti Vaxxers doesn't mean everyone should. Society should never bend the knee to idiots or in any way accommodate them.
3. Vaccines do reduce transmission significantly and everyone should get one. Just because it isn't 100% isn't an excuse.
4. The Washington mandate is fine and the only people to blame for children missing school are parents who won't vaccinate their children as they clearly care more about their Anti-Vax insanity than their children's education and we shouldn't repeat their folly.

It's truly sad when a government health agency is crippled by politics and science is undermined to accommodate the irrational.

The CDC did not say social distancing is suggested in schools in particular. And even if you think they are being influenced by the courts, the reality remains that tens of millions of children would go without an education and very little spread would be prevented if they went with what you are suggesting, which is just a chaotic shitstorm that will leave millions of children in the dust, and you have to consider that cost when pushing for a vax mandate that you admit won't even prevent spread. And I definitely don't blame you for questioning the CDCs motives. I will never trust them or the WHO again after what they pulled during the pandemic.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the nation should move away from restrictive measures such as quarantines and social distancing and focus on reducing severe disease from COVID-19.
In new guidelines released Thursday, the agency no longer recommends staying at least 6 feet away from other people to reduce the risk of exposure -- a shift from guidance that had been in place since the early days of the pandemic.

Whoops, sorry. Didn't mean to quote you helios.
"Expert" who was shoved down our throat on all mainstream media outlets to tell us not getting the vaccine was the same as drunk driving, is now speaking out and admitting they were wrong. At least some people have the nuts to admit when they are wrong. Bravo to this lady.
Top UK official also says they were wrong to listen to pandemic scientists

When did I admit that a vaccine mandate wouldn’t prevent the spread? I said it would prevent spread if a sufficient number of people took the vaccine.

Yay, you found some loonies who regret giving sound medical advice and have nailed their flag to loonie grift and thus have tossed all their credibility into the shitter. Also not getting vaccinated is just as irresponsible and stupid as drunk driving ....
