teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Disappointing theists since 1968!

Disclosure: I've seen about 2 hours of SP, in snippets, mostly here. I'm pretty much un-American in my TV viewing. When I got married in '81, my wife wanted a TV, which I didn't have. Wanted to watch "I Love Lucy" reruns, she did. I went from the dean's list to a 2.0 GPA the semester (that semester only) I met my wife-to-be. Amazing what lust will do. On another note, I knew one of the guys who wrote for "The Simpsons" (I think), who was a dad of a boy in my Boy Scout troop. Amazing that a person writing that kind of material would have a son in Scouts. Strange intersection, to say the least.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
