Belfast was also a 15 minute city, because that was the average life expectancy if you were in the wrong neighbourhood after dark.*

(Note: It had been a long-ass time since I had seen the movie, and at the time, the Tim Curry roles I was familiar with either had him in shittons of makeup [whether it's as Pennywise or even Frank], were shot after he gained weight, or were just voiceover. I guess it took me watching Clue to finally recognise him.)
Plus, it seems like most of the other guests were played by the Transylvanian extras. Columbia even plays an Emily Dickinson lookalike during "Dammit Janet". A carryover from the original stage production? A half-done homage to the "And you were in it" aspects of Wizard of Oz? A Hereditary-style situation where practically everyone we see is either part of Frank's cult or will be by the end? You make the call!
Why hire two different groups of actors, one for the church, one for the "castle"?

I guessed that the film's budget would probably have afforded some other extras.

That's not the point, insofar as I remember. The "perfectly normal" people at the wedding had a secret life.

Religion is the sole reason there were right and wrong neighborhoods.
It was as much politics as religion. If it were possible to remove the religious aspect, there wouldn't be much difference in the butchery.

Religion and politics coevolved, The very reason why there were different religions so there could be right ones and wrong ones is to a great extend the consequence of politics. Admittedly most of that politics occurred far from Ireland.
Even coevolved is not exactly right. Religion is politics, and unlike war, not even politics by other means, It is just pure politics by conventional means, but with unusually heavy emphasis on the particularly deceitful, cynical, and exploitative of the means normally used in the political tool chest

Thank you for lecturing me about my hometown. Don’t know what I’d do without your wisdom and guidance.

The naval rank of Admiral actually comes from the Arab title of Amir al Bahr, which meant prince of the sea. The Sicilians first copied it from the Arabs, the Genoese then copied the Genoese but dropped the ending to make it Amiral, The french then copied ifrom Genoese during the crusades, and from there it spread to the rest of europe.
