Well, there are a few river names which make sense to those speaking Croatian, such as Rječina (literally "big river"), Mirna (literally "peaceful") or Mrežnica (from "mreža" meaning "net", presumably named because of the visual effect the rocks in it create). Such are very rare, though. The vast majority of Croatian river names make no sense to those speaking Croatian, and it's presumably because they are ancient (predating the Croatian language).
