On the surface his fear may appear rational or rational adjacent but it fails to take into consideration that people know about AI fakes. They've been around for years now. If a video/speech is claiming that some drastic or devastating action is being perpetrated there are people in the know that will evaluate for an AI fake and report it.

Of course there will always be people that are fooled, at least initially. However if they know about AI fakes and are rational I think that most will certainly question the validity of anything that sounds to 'good/bad' to be true. And it needs to be taken into consideration that the author believes in many fantastical/magical beliefs, he made not be the best judge of what to fear and not fear.

Christ, look at how many people are fooled by articles in The Onion, no AI needed.
