I have a leather strop for my carving tools, but I've found that the kind of cardboard used for cereal boxes works great when charged with a good abrasive. My abrasive is chromium oxide. I will note that I use the Smith's knife sharpening kit with the guides, and diamond plates. I don't bother to strop the kitchen knives.

Still working with my old wet stone from the 60's.

Having an adventure.
A thunderstorm came through here and we lost power for about a minute. Whenever I lose power, the Amazon-branded smart plug in one of the living room lamps has to be completely set up again, including any routines/programs that reference that plug. The Kasa plugs seem to remember their settings, so those don't have to be fixed when the power goes out. So, I had a spare Kasa plug, and the Amazon plug was being fidgety, so I figure now is a good time to swap out the Amazon plug. I do that, only to discover that the lamp isn't responding. Apparently the power surge killed the LED bulb in it. I had purchased a two-pack of bulbs last fall, but I had no clue where they were stored. So I spent 20 minutes just finding them. So I go to screw in the new bulb, and it's not starting for some reason. After a couple of minutes of trying, I take the bulb out and look at it. There's a plastic cap covering the threads that I had neglected to remove. D'oh!
Oh well. All better. And my computer got updated when I restarted it.

Got a call from "Scam Likely". Haven't heard from her in a while.

Getting ready for the trip up to Wisconsin, which starts tomorrow. Nervous about a couple things, but at least there’s one worry that’s just been defeated: the copy of Kafka on the Shore I bought a bit less than a month ago, which spent over two weeks in limbo in Secaucus, New Jersey, has finally arrived.
