Listening to a fake fireplace on the big screen. I had to run to Target earlier for gift cards and stocking stuffers.

I like that idea. The wife wants an electric fake fireplace, but I'm betting your solution is a ton cheaper.

I'm building quite the harem of lovely ladies.
Arriving Xmas morning:
This is NOT the height of acoustic guitars, but it's a good place to start to see if I like playing acoustic and to find out how different it is to play an acoustic. It gets good reviews "for the price," and, at under $100 for the bundle, i knew someone might actually buy it for me where they wouldn't but "just another electric guitar" priced $140 for a Leo Jaymz Telecaster knockoff, to $900 for a Washburn Nuno Bettencourt signature in Rose finish, to $950 (20% off) for the Fender Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster Acoustic Electric. I just wish I hadn't seen the guitar shaped box it came in, with the bcp logo on the side. I freakin' hate knowing what a gift is before opening it.
Arriving Dec. 29th:
an Ibanez GRG131DX. Not a gift, or... maybe a gift to myself. This color scheme really speaks to me. Just looking at the pic makes me want to pick it up and play it!
With the count at 4 by the end of the year, Ima have to cool it before the wife files papers. Besides, the next few I want, I'm gonna have to save for. I really want that Washburn Nuno Signature model and the Acoustasonic would be really nice as well.
Then there's this:
An Epiphone Les Paul Melody Maker E1, white over ebony. I mean, I have a Strat. My collection will be incomplete without a Les Paul. Sure, it's no late 50's/early 60's Gibson Les Paul, but Epiphone isn't the bargain basement cheap brand they used to be either. At $180, I may chase this one down rather quickly. I've got a birthday coming a month after Xmas.
And, it's also available in Turquoise
Or, Sunset Yellow:
Decisions, decisions...
I haven't felt this kind of passion over a hobby, no where near, since bowling as a kid, grade school right through my senior year of high school. When Sandi, team mate, friend, confidant... girl who could have been "The One" if I'd ever spoken up, died, I lost that. I'm so glad to have that passion again...
Yes, I really do need all these guitars!

The most guitars I ever had at one time was 46. But, unlike you, I didn't need them.
My gear now consists of an acoustic guitar, two banjos, a bodhran, a mandolin, half a dozen tin whistles, and the pipes (there's also a theorbo, but that just pretty much wall art).

Not gonna lie, I'd probably shell out a few more sawbucks for at least the Les Paul Special-II E1 Ebony. At least it has proper humbuckers.

Edit Reason: driving is hard
)
Had a work gathering at 4 pm yesterday. I did the Irish goodbye at 4:45. I got home at 7:15. 41 miles door to door. Driving is hard.

Arrived onsite after yet another 1.5 hr 65 miles drive, that's each way and 5 days this week, in a Renault Twingo no less...inspected 4 units, I think they're 3 or 4 away from completing the shipset, and have been very bullish about getting it done by Friday - tomorrow. Hope the goddamn weather isn't too bad on way home tonight. I was surprised the motorway hadn't washed away this week. 5 hrs down, 3 to go, unless there is no chance of the shortages arriving, then I'll try and shoot a little early, as I have to be in earlier tomorrow.
It's official, I am too old to be a contractor.

Snow is filming up the works today. The bus to St. Paul was 10 minutes late.

Meh. I'm not averse to the single coil pickups. Looking down at my Strat, I can see the last time I played it, I was playing on the neck pickup. Sure, they're typically noisier (though they make some mighty quite ones these days), but you can also wring tones out of them that you can't get from humbuckers, just as you can get tones from humbuckers that single coils can't produce. I'm all about variety. The Firefly has humbuckers at neck and bridge, the Ibanez has the same, and the Strat is an S-S-H setup with a Floyd Rose. If the single coils on the Epiphone are crap, some upgraded single coil, or even single space humbucking upgrades, are all it would need, and I've got that cool white over black finish vs. the all black.
