Apparently Darwin viewed his own ideas about the inheritance of acquired traits as having a similar conclusion to Lamarck, just with a different method. He thought that the body's cells would shed particles called gemmules during use and that these would move to the sex cells where they would be transmitted to the next generation and over time they would build up to create changes in the species.
Vaguely useful to know as something we can point to and show that we aren't blindly following Darwin as some sort of authority for our current evolutionary science
The book Darwin Mythology: Debunking Myths, Correcting Falsehoods that was released in June this year is a really interesting read

Agoraphobia is often stereotyped as a fear of leaving one's home, and while that outcome may be a consequence of the condition, agoraphobia is actually a fear of being in an environment perceived to be unsafe with no easy means of escape.

I was raised catholic although I stopped believing in my early teens. I am today years old that I learned the Catholic Church is categorically opposed to capital punishment.
And here I was thinking that there was nothing that the Catholic Church and I could agree on.

Or just realized - after the death of a president or former president, the flag is to be flown at half-staff for 30 days. Which means the flag should still be there when Trump is sworn in.
Slow clap for Mr. Carter's timing.

Symbolic honor seems silly to me.

Of course it is, but there's nothing wrong with symbolism.
