I tried to reset the debate from a different angle with a new post and though it grew to three pages fast, it was shut down as spam. Religious folk don't want me on their boards anymore than this group does.

Atheism is not a belief it's a lack of belief in a god and again the number of people who believe has no baring on if it's true or not your constant employment of the ad populum is no more valid now then the first time you used it.

If I remember my reading correctly, string theorists developed various mathematical treatments for how to fold their extra dimensions of space, which had a bearing on how symmetry was broken in the very early big bang era. They came up with several scenarios which would have been even more propitious for life than our own universe, along with many which were worse.

That might make someone wonder why God didn't choose the most effective method available.

It must be the same way with scientists who claim we live in a multiverse.

Not everyone who believes in multiverse is an atheist and you assume atheism has anything to do with there acceptance of the hypothesis as plausible rather they accept a multiverse and at the same time don't accept a god both things can be true    

They just have no idea how smart and insightful you people are.

Also it's analogous to fine-tuning as there is no evidence of such a thing only heap of fallacious assumptions the point of the puddle analogy is to point out that nit wits who argue for fine-tuning are pushing an assumption that fits just as well the other way around not as an assertion of how it actually happened as no one knows how it happened

I can't remember ever using the puddle analogy offhand.  You need to differentiate between the people you are addressing.

To repeat, no one yet knows how the universe began.  Physicists and cosmologists have different hypotheses.  We atheists think the informed opinions of scientific experts more compelling than resorting to mythological creatures.

You folks are such faithful believers I believe you start boards like this just to re-affirm you faith. You convince yourselves there is overwhelming evidence against a Creator and solid evidence the universe and life was caused inadvertently.

No such thing as a faithful atheist you can't have faith in something you lack belief in. Nah we start boards to talk we don't have a faith let alone one that require affirmation let alone re- affirmation . No we observe no presented evidence for the claim by theists that there is a god works. We have never claimed the universe or life was caused   inadvertently. we have pointed out the seeming lack of evidence for the claim of intention and the failures of those who make that claim (like you) Once again you projecting religious notions onto us.

The GODification of America.

The 1950’s was the height of The Cold War when the omnipresent threat to America was Communism. As the fear of Communism and the Soviet Union grew stronger President Eisenhower felt the need to do something big to help unify and bolster the country. At the strong encouragement of multiple ministers, religious politicians, business leaders, and his influential Evangelist pal Billy Graham, Eisenhower agreed on a bold strategy: Demonize Communism by demonizing a main tenet of Communism: Atheism. The idea was to make the ‘US vs Soviet Union’ a Holy War and draft God as America’s #1 Commie Fighter.

To facilitate that Eisenhower took aggressive executive action. First, he got Congress to add “One nation ‘under GOD’” to The Pledge of Allegiance — a pledge recited daily in every classroom in America. Then he got Congress to replace “E Pluribus Unum” (the US motto since 1782 meaning “Out of many, one”) with IN GOD WE TRUST.

After that he got Congress to approve posting IN GOD WE TRUST in court rooms, government buildings, public schools, on postage stamps, and on all US currency. Even some comic books of the day talked about “Godless Communism”. And New York State created a school prayer specifically designed to “counter the spread of Communism.” As if all that wasn’t enough the Administration teamed up with The Advertising Council, the major religious institutions, and corporate America to create something called the Religion in American Life campaign. With an annual budget of 200K (over $2M in today’s dollars) the campaign goal was to encourage Americans to attend church. It was a well-coordinated, unified effort that in 1956 alone included 5,412 highway billboards, 9,857 bus, train, and railroad station posters, and 59,590 ad cards inside buses, trains, subways, and streetcars. In addition, movie theaters ran PSA’s imploring the public to “Attend the church of your choice next Sunday.” It’s fair to say that during the 50’s nothing in America was marketed better than God, and nothing was demonized more than Communism and atheism.
